Q.1. Is this system designed to catch our operators doing something wrong?

A. The Pantrack Vehiclel Management System is designed to provide vehicle information to improve productivity and reduce operating costs. It is important that this system is used and communicated as a tool that benefits the company and protects the drivers. One of the system’s major benefits is the collection of information used for effective risk management, to help improve operations and enhance safety.

Q.2. Why do we need fleet management like this?

A. This Vehicle management system has been designed to improve efficiency in all departments by utilizing technology. With the increase in competition and the rising costs of operation, fleet operators are looking for ways to better control their business. This system allows fleet managers to lower operational costs and provide more streamlined, responsive service to their customers.

Q.3. How difficult is it to operate?

A. This system requires no driver or operator intervention. The data collection process is automatic and the storage and transfer of the information is accomplished via automated wireless transfer. The only human interface required is the utilization and interpretation of the data reports.

  Q.4. What are the advantages?

A. Better time management for internal staff, increased field performance and productivity, lower operational costs, predictable maintenance for vehicles (longer engine life, transmission, brakes, tires, etc), increased liability protection, lower risk management costs, and potential insurance savings.

Q.5. How do we implement such a system?

A. After determining your fleet’s requirements, Pantrack will develop a system design to meet your operational needs. Pantrack then drafts an implementation plan and determines if your fleet requires a phased implementation. If it is determined that a phased implementation will best suit your application, Pantrack then establishes and documents baseline measurements in specific operational areas and optimizes the system design to meet those needs. Pantrack validates the variable productivity in these operational areas over a fixed period of time and implements a strategic approach for the balance of the fleet.

Q.6. How does this system work?

A. The system utilizes the GPS (Global Positioning System) and defined software to capture vehicle data such as location, speed, time and other important operational activity. This data is then downloaded to the Local PC in your office and is available to the fleet managers in various text and map report formats via an Internet based application.

Q.7. Who does the installation? Can these systems be self-installed?

A. Pantrack has developed a certified, nationwide installation and service network, which provides installation and maintenance. Pantrack Service Specialists are typically involved in the initial system design, which enables them to become familiar with your system needs from the beginning. For those companies, which may have internal installation capabilities Pantrack offers an on-site installation training course for certification of qualified technicians.

Q.8. Is this system "real time" or can it be "real time" capable?

A. The Pantrack Vehicle Management System collects data on a “real time” basis and delivers the information in a “relevant” manner.

Q.9. How do we collect information on vehicles that do not return to the yard?

A. The system is designed to retain approximately 10,000 vehicle events before requiring a download.

Q.10. What size of a fleet can the system handle?

A. The system is scaleable in size to accommodate fleets of 1 to 5,000 vehicles or more. The reporting parameters allow the user to gather and display information on individual, or groups of vehicles, depending upon the requirements.
